MINI-Biography: Cesare Beccaria was born on March 12, 1738 in Milan and the oldest son. He was in a aristocratic family and was very educated at a Jesuit school. In 1758, he got his degree. Later, Beccaria got married in 1761, to Teresa di Blasco. Around the twentith century Cesare surround himself with the Verri brothers(Pietro and Alessandro ), who formed a circle of allies called the," the academy of fists," which was to reform the criminal justice system.. From the group, Beccaria got situated with French and British political pholosephers. Which encourage him to write "On Punishment and Crimes," in 1764. He got his information on crimes and pumishment from both of the Verri brothers. They did this to protest against the death penalty. Beccaria was against the death penalty because he felt that was cold hearted and just unnecessary to treat another human being. Philosophers vowed to followed the message in the book because everything in it was right. Ever since he wrote that book Beccaria was a member of the supreme economic council in 1771. But sadly, he died in Florence.
